The PowerShell commands for creating Group Policies and setting native Group Policies and Group Policy Preferences Registry entries have been around for quite some time, but they have not been updated to add any additional functionality in subsequent versions of the WMF.

Below are links to the main references for this script.

The Administrative Templates used by group policy are always located in a standard Windows OS installation in the C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions directory.

However, the latest versions can be downloaded here:

The Group Policy reference file, Windows10andWindowsServer2016PolicySettings.xlsx, can be downloaded here:

The Office reference file, office2016grouppolicyandoctsettings.xlsx, is located in the Administrative Template download. Run the executable and the .xlsx will be available.

These files will be used to help identify the information that needs to be put into the script to generate the syntax for updating Group Policy.

This script would not have been possible without the numerous PowerShell resources available on the web.

Additionally, the Group Policy: Preferences Extension Data Structure was an invaluable tool in deciphering some of the nuances of GPP.

For optimal Group Policy implementation, ensure a Central Store is setup. The script can create the Central Store if selected. More information about the Central Store is located here:
